SOPEC will be available at the Village Municipal Building (215 South Main Street) on Wednesday, October 30th from 3-7 pm to answer questions voters have about the proposed aggregation program.

The Southeast Ohio Public Energy Council (SOPEC) is engaged in a voter education campaign in New Lexington and is going door to door to answer questions about electric aggregation. Electric aggregation is on the ballot this election cycle, before or on November 5th, 2019 — Election Day.

SOPEC is a Council of Governments currently serving the energy needs of Amesville, Athens, Athens County, Buchtel, Chauncey, Jacksonville, Logan, New Straitsville, Shawnee, Somerset, and Trimble. You can learn more about SOPEC here: www.sopec-oh.gov

SOPEC is not here to persuade you to vote yes or no on the issue. They are simply here to ensure voters have the information they need to make an informed decision. SOPEC is not connected to any other electric issue happening statewide and will never ask our residents to sign anything.

Electric aggregation does not affect PIPP customers or those who have already signed a supply contract with another company. SOPEC's program also allows for budget billing. If passed, New Lexington residents will have the choice to opt-out, or not participate, without any fees.
